The Amazing Story of Adolphus Tips - Lydia

My book is called ‘The Amazing Story of Adolphus Tips.’ It was written by Michael Morpurgo, you might have heard of him before because he has written many books.
My book is set in 1943, in the middle of World War 2. It is based in Slapton which is in Devon, in Southwest England.
The main character in this book is Lily Tregenza. She is 10 years old and extremely mischievous. I know this because she creeps into restricted areas to look for her cat, Tips. My second main character is called Tips, or later known as Adolphus Tips. She is disobedient because she runs away.
The first main event that happens in this book is that Lily‘s family and the rest of the village are told to leave the village for some time while the American soldiers practice the invasion of France. The second main event in this book is that Lily’s adored cat, Tips, runs away from home during the move. After that, Barry, an evacuee from London comes to stay with Lily because the teacher he was staying with left to go overseas. Then Lily sneaks into restricted areas 3 times to look for her cat Tips and is caught by two soldiers, one of them is called Adolphus T. Mandersion.
Some days after that the two soldiers bring Tips home. Unfortunately, the next day she runs away again. In the next week, Dad arrives home for 5 days while he’s on leave from the army. After Dad leaves Barry’s mum, Ivy comes to stay for a few days while it is Barry’s birthday.
The next day Adolphus T. Mandersion tells Lily’s family that his partner died in an accident while practicing for the invasion of France. Within the next week, Lily’s family hear over the radio that the Americans have left for the invasion of France and that they can all go home. The next day Lily finds this written on her wall ‘January 10th 1944 Adie and Harry were here looking for Tips. Welcome home Lily, Adie and Harry
