New Motorbike

After a huge morning rise at 5:00am for Kapa haka I was narkerd going to rugby after just made it worse and I had black lips!!
Mum said to all the parents “excuse kahlee’s black lips she has being at Kapa haka”
and of cause that just made me have to talk to all the parents. Witch i really didn’t want to do because I was exhausted.
As i moaned and growned mum said “ I no your tired but please stop moaning you have suprize at home”
As i stop with wonder I new it was gonna be something big because dad had come back from Hamilton the night last night.
I stood there with wonder thinking what it could be. when the rugby game was over we went home I asked were it was i asked mum she said it was in the garage.
when dad opened the garage door i sore a black newish MOTORBIKE!!!! “OH YEA I YELLED”
Dad said that it needs new petrol though. As we went inside I asked if we can go put new petrol in and ride it.
Dad said that we could so we tied the motorbike on the trayler.
As we got to dads work we emptyed the petrol out and put some brand new stuff in it
and that afternoon we played on my new motorbike. I also named it a name its called Storm because its black.

The Car

Chase

The noise of sirens was very annoying. It had been an hour since the burglary .the police were on a car chase .The robber was like Usane Bolt on the highway. the robber had stolen a computer,T.V. and some jewellry .After four hours the robber was caught, and was in big trouble. They also discovered the he killed the women who was in the house as well. You are going to be in jail for your whole “growled the police man” “ for robbery and murder.

I had the goal in my sights , but there were three defenders closing in on me. I knew as captain,I needed to push myself to the limits , but when i heard the cheers i knew i had to do it. i saw the left back sprinting across, but thinking quickly i put the ball to the corner to our winger i saw the clock 10 9 8.... He crossed i was desperate to catch up with the ball. i jumped i felt like i was touching the clouds. WHAM We had scored i was overwhelmed with excitement. But i woke up i was in my bed it was dream of what had happened that afternoon i fell back into a dreamy sleep and thought about the rest of what happened that game.

perry writing

The steel felt hard and cold in my hands. There was no escape. Total loneliness dark unlivable. I had done nothing wrong I kept on saying to my self. I’m so hungry Im desperate to have even the smallest piece of food. I was going mad of loneliness. I kept on talking to my self thinking there was someone there. I thought i was not going to make it. But then i had a glimpse of hope as the guard walked past and the keys where on his belt just inches away from my hands. I went for it thinking it would have been my only chance. he turned blast i missed. damn i said out loud. He heard me but luckily he just thought I was talking to my self again. He told me to ‘sh** up’. And to stop talking to my self. I took no notice.
AUCKLAND ZOO

My head was spinning around in circles my brain was bouncing up and down full of excitment because we were going to the Auckland Zoo. Last year in the Christmas Holidays my mum and dad took my brother and me to the Auckland Zoo. Mum and dad probably thought I was a mad woman the way I was jumping around in the morning before we left.

The Zoo finally arrived outside our car door waiting just waiting for us. Mum and dad finished paying at the front office and we sprinted in through the front door. The first thing we saw were the giraffes they were really funny to watch because they towered over all the other smaller animals.

After the giraffes it was already time for lunch!! So we made our way over t the picnic area for something to eat. After lunch we made our way over to the under the sea part. Seals are my favourite animals because they love being in water!! The seals were performing a show for us it was really cool!!

The day had come to an end there were so many animals but I just couldn’t fit them in!!!!!

Robot

There was a blinding flash of light it was coming from a huge steel mechanical machine. The light was like a lightning bolt ready to hit someone. The invention was starting to activate. finally I figured out what it was it was a robot. There was another short circut of blinding light as it finished activating. The machine was going crazy, It was shooting lightning everywhere. It hit 3 buildings, 5 power poles and 10 houses. All of a sudden it stopped. The computer on it had died down. The invention all of a sudden it disappeared.

Fishy

FISHY!!!

“Sarah look at this” Mum croaked.
I slowly walked along like a mummy “What “ I screamed.”There’s a black gold fish in the pond!” I ran like a rocket to the gold fish pond.”There is to”It was really hard to see beacause it was camouflaged in the in to the green breathing material.
I could see in my glimpse a shiny shimming among the tangled wire netting. I was such a fantasy to me because It was a very unusal gold fish. I was very puzzled by the fact that the black , gold fishies parnets were orange and the little fela in the tank was black.”Oh mum isn’t he just the cutist” I said. He
was only about 2 cm long and 1cm wide.I named him shimmer because the way his tail shimmerd around in the green water, was so differnt thats how I found my baby gold fish Shimmer

The Amazing Race

Concentrating hard, I gripped the steering wheel and yanked it hard around. I stared ahead, desperately looking for the all important corners.
These corners were my weak point on the track. Memories of crashing, skidding, and braking flashed through my aching head. Not daring to look behind me in fear of spotting some fearless competition, I manouevered my cart around the dreaded corners.

Now I was on the bumpy straight that had made me roll over, as embarrassed as a duck in high heels. I accelerated, racing across the greenish brown grass and over the finish line...Yay! I won!

Mancala explanation.

Mancala Explanation.

What you need:

. A mancala board

. 48 counters or marbles

. 2 players

Set Up:

. Put 4 counters in each of the 12 smaller holes.

How to play:

.1 person picks up the counters from 1 hole on their side, and drops 1 counter in each hole moving anti-clockwise.

. The 2 big holes at the end are your points, so people can’t take your counters.

.How you get another turn is by having your last counter dropped in to your big hole at the end.

.If the other player has a bundle and the last counter you drop is the only one in the hole, then you can take that counter and the other person’s and put it in your big hole.

.When it is your turn and you touch the bundle, then you touch another bundle, you have to take the bundle you touched first.

.If one of the sides with 6 holes has no counters in it and if the other side has counters on their side, they get those counters on their side - they get those counters.

.How to work out who wins. You count up your counters and who has the most counters wins the game.

So that is how you play Mancala.

Volcano Climb.

Volcano Climb.

Two or three more pull’s then I reach the top of the volcano. I was so tired. Suddenly the smell got worse than ever I throw down the smelly rope to my friend. I was very proud of the view. I was so smelly when I reached the top.
I got up and thought to myself I am going to need an early night tonight. When my friend got up we both pulled up the smelly rope.

The Magnificent Mountain

The Magnificent Mountain.

“Let’s go.” We slowly stopped out of the warm car onto the edge of the mountain. At first it was surrounded by fog but the sun soon broke through to reveal a magnificent mountain. It stood before us like giant. We slowly approached the chairlifts that would carry us to the top of this monster. We finally arrived at the top. I scanned the mountain top and noticed many interesting objects. I spotted a small hut that looked so warm. It felt like it was dragging me towards it. I started to stumble towards it. Suddenly Mum grabbed my tiny hand and started talking to some people that looked quite friendly. Again i peered around this mysterious place . I stared down at the beautiful snow that shimmered in the sunlight like a star in the night sky . I payed my attention to the clear blue sky up above. I was loving this place so far! So much to look at I thought. Then I realised a bright red snow board in one woman’s hand as she offered to take me down the steep slope. I sat down in front of her and clutched the rope tightly. We started to move inch by inch then we speed off down the mountain side like a lighting bolt. As we approached the bottom and fell off and began to tumble the rest of the way down. I couldn’t believe I was nervous at first. I slid down
many more times on my own bright red sled. I was beginning to get cold as my tummy rumbled. But i was having to much fun to stop. I
jumped on a moving chair and began to swing my legs back and forth. The sun shone high above our heads. I skidded to the bottom of the hill again. I tried to stand up but instead I landed face first in to the snow. Some thing hit me as I stood up. My brother was giggling as he through another snow ball at me. Just as he was about to start a skiing lesson, I through a huge snow ball at him. This was the best day ever I knew I would remember this day for a long time. After that I started watching skiers and snow boarders do tricks on there boards. I was amazed as I gazed at how many people there were going down the mountain. I looked at my brother who was trying so had to be like them but instead he ended up sitting in the snow. We went down the slope one more time, then we went over to the warm car. I didn’t want to leave this amazing place it was getting a little bored of doing the same thing. I stared at the mountain in amazement. We drove slowly away from the giant mountain.

The Amazing Story of Adolphus Tips - Lydia

My book is called ‘The Amazing Story of Adolphus Tips.’ It was written by Michael Morpurgo, you might have heard of him before because he has written many books.
My book is set in 1943, in the middle of World War 2. It is based in Slapton which is in Devon, in Southwest England.
The main character in this book is Lily Tregenza. She is 10 years old and extremely mischievous. I know this because she creeps into restricted areas to look for her cat, Tips. My second main character is called Tips, or later known as Adolphus Tips. She is disobedient because she runs away.
The first main event that happens in this book is that Lily‘s family and the rest of the village are told to leave the village for some time while the American soldiers practice the invasion of France. The second main event in this book is that Lily’s adored cat, Tips, runs away from home during the move. After that, Barry, an evacuee from London comes to stay with Lily because the teacher he was staying with left to go overseas. Then Lily sneaks into restricted areas 3 times to look for her cat Tips and is caught by two soldiers, one of them is called Adolphus T. Mandersion.
Some days after that the two soldiers bring Tips home. Unfortunately, the next day she runs away again. In the next week, Dad arrives home for 5 days while he’s on leave from the army. After Dad leaves Barry’s mum, Ivy comes to stay for a few days while it is Barry’s birthday.
The next day Adolphus T. Mandersion tells Lily’s family that his partner died in an accident while practicing for the invasion of France. Within the next week, Lily’s family hear over the radio that the Americans have left for the invasion of France and that they can all go home. The next day Lily finds this written on her wall ‘January 10th 1944 Adie and Harry were here looking for Tips. A Miner's Diary - Emily

Today I had to work down in the wet dewy mines. I hate it, but at least we get lots of gleaming dollar notes and coins. I hate it when I get wrinkly feet and then they go horrible, black and rotten. My uniform is overalls or jeans, bandannas to absorb my sweat, hard hats and gumboots. I work all day, then we have a little bit of time in our tiny dormitory with 50 people in them. After that I go off to the pub with my mates and have a nice cold beer and do our noisy gumboot dances. I like it when I talk all the time with my best mates, it’s way better for me than down in those cold, wet dewy mines, because it’s a bit lonely, and it’s really really hard work for me and all of my team mates. Well, at least my day is over for me and my team mates, but then it’s time to sleep in my tiny stuffy dormitory. Goodnight everyone.

Gumboot Dancing - Oliver

I just had the most unspeakable day at the mines, because the boss was so angry today. I can’t even be bothered to go to gumboot practice and thats the most wonderful part of the day. But I guess I have to do it or else my boss will fire me. When I got there, they had already started and one of them yelled “Hurry up! You’re late!!” When I was doing it, I could really feel the beat. It wasn’t such a dumb thing after all, it was pretty wonderful. It was like a bommy-knocker hitting my legs, then WOZA!!!!! It was as loud as ten thousand speakers with someone yelling into it. After gumboot practice, I had a nice cold beer. Yum.

A Miner's Diary - Perry

Dear diary

It was my worst day ever. I came back from work today it was horrible! This guy got killed today and five others got badly injured and I nearly got hit by a big tumbling bolder. It gets worse. This room is unbearable! And the pay is stink. But luckily its gumboot practice today the best day of the week. Whats gumboot dancing you say. It's the best dancing were all get together and dance. It feels like were really alive. This is luxury compared to that work that we have to do. I mean dancing isn't that great but compared to the work that we do its awesome.

The Day in the Life of a Miner - Holly

My head is ringing, I feel dizzy. The sound of people chipping rocks is replying in my head. A revolting smell a revolting smell covered the mine making everyone uncomfortable. I feel squirmy on the rock-hard beds we have to sleep in, but when I do the gumboot dance, I get sucked away from the bad thoughts of the mine! I feel joyful because we work as a team. Then we I get back from the mines the fun is drained from me!

A Day in the Life of a Miner - Ben H

After a hard day after work I was glad to get back to my house my toes were freezing because down in the Gold mine it is pretty dangerous. I was practicing my Gumboot dancing for my Gold mining that way my buddy and me can communicate and thats how I got warmed up.I am pretty good at my Gumboot dancing, I know many cool kinds of dancing. there are many kinds of Gumboot dancing. I said in my head they help a lot in my Gold mining so that if any thing falls down we can still communicate even through a big brown rock in the way and so that is why I have to master it. Then I went to bed.

Keeli's Camp Reflection

While we were driving to camp, I had lots on my mind. I was nervous because I didn’t know what to expect. I wondered if I was going to enjoy myself or not. I was hoping I would have a good time.

We got to camp and there was a water slide.I assumed it would be fun. As soon as I could, I went down it. When I got to the bottom, I decided it was so fun, I would keep going until I was so cold I could barley move. It seems to me that if the water slide was fun, then the other activities would be too.

Instead of going kayaking, I decided to build bivouacs. At first I had no idea what a bivouac were. But I soon found out that they’re a little bush hut made out of branches and leaves. To get the toi toi we used for the carpet, we had to reach up into cutty grass. I realised that lifting your friend up isn’t the best idea.

The Burma Trail seemed scary at first ,but in the end I realised I had nothing to worry about. Except all the parents hiding in the bushes waiting to scare me. I guess I was just scared because it was my first time.

I am glad I went on camp because I had a good time. I learnt that if you give everything a go you will have fun. I would definitely go on camp again, because there are lots of opportunities to try new things.

Devan's Camp Reflection

Oww. We were almost at camp Mangawhai. I was very excited. The only thing I knew about this place was about 10 photos and the activities. I was worried that I would not be able to do them all. When we got there I was thoughtless - archery looked so cool, the water slide was so long, and the flying fox was high as.

I worked out how to get myself out of bed on the second day. Pods 9 and 11 lined up in the hall. My first activity was archery. I could not wait for my turn.

As we made our way to the flying fox, I felt a bit worried about the run up the hill. As soon as I did it, I discovered it was a real work out.

Next was the water slide, my third favourite thing on the list. I felt cold going down it. I assumed I would get to the bottom, but I didn’t.

As we drove home I felt proud as I remembered doing all the activities, though I was a bit worried that future camps will not be as good. I even learnt something new.

Phoebe's Camp Reflection

It was a really exciting day, it was the day we were going on school camp. I thought it was going to be an awesome day. Thankfully, getting into the cars and going to the beach was easy.

Our first rotation activity was the water slide. I was a bit worried about the splash and how fast it was. I really enjoyed it though. A skill I learned was to keep your head down to go faster.

When I went on the flying fox, it seemed a bit fast, I thought to myself, but once I got on it, I really enjoyed it, especially when I hung upside down.

Another activity I really liked was going on the Burma trail in the dark. It was not very scary, but it was still really cool.

I really enjoyed school camp. I had never been on a flying fox before. All the activities were fun. I would want to go there again. I think other people should go because it is good fun.

Emma's Camp Reflection

Before I went on camp, I felt nervous about how big the water slide and flying fox would be. I was worried about camp getting out of hand and people not listening.

I was nervous that the rope on the flying fox would snap when I went down. I felt relieved when I hit the bottom. It was a frightful ride.

In Archery, I thought that the arrow would fly straight into the pig pen and kill the pig. On my second try, it hit near the bulls eye but not near enough.

I felt overwhelmed when I did Surf Life Saving , because we did an activity where you lay down in the stinky sand. The leader said go and you ran straight forward and get the hose piece.

I thought it was a big bummer going back to school. And I would love to go again. I loved taking part in that camp.

Ben T's Camp Reflection

Before I went to camp, I was feeling sick about it. But I told myself to conquer my fear and go. I was a bit scared to go on the flying fox, like the first time I went up the flying fox at Tangihua.

I was ready to go on the water slide. We had a choice between water slide or the flying fox. I pondered about it for a little while. I reckon the water slide was the best choice. I wasn’t nervous because I had been on one before at the pools. The water slide was cool. Even now, I think it was the best choice.

The next morning, I did the flying fox but I didn’t like it as much as the water slide. After that we walked over to archery. I thought that was pretty cool as well. I worked out that if there’s anything to do with mud or water, its the best choice.

On the last day of camp, we got to do something we would like to do again. I thought hard. It was important we chose what we wanted because we couldn’t change all the time. I chose the water slide. I'm glad it was the right decision to make because I enjoyed it so much.

I have learnt through experience that camp isn’t a test of being away from home. It’s about having fun and enjoying it. If you’re really nervous you don’t have to go. If your friends tell you you’re a chicken you don’t have to go. I would like to go back there for the water slide.

Jessica's Camp Reflection

Boom, Boom, went my heart as I thought about Camp Mangawhai. I felt nervous and excited at the same time. I realised that this camp was going to be fun and busy, not freaky or boring. As I thought about night-time my home-sickness grew and grew, the more I thought about it. It made me shiver.

I was over-whelmed by all of the fun activities, especially the water-slide! I made up my mind and decided to give it a go!
I nervously stepped on to the cold, icy water-slide. It looked like a slithering slug! My mind was blurred as I sped down the slippery water-slide.

“Wahoo!” I shouted as I hit the bottom with a big SPLASH! I discovered that the water-slide wasn’t too bad after all! It started to get a bit chilly so I decided to leave to go back to my messy dorm.

It was night-time now and we had just finished a delicious dinner. We went straight back to our dorms after a story and a game of trivial pursuit. But unfortunately we did not win. I forgot about my home-sickness when I went to bed, because I was too busy trying to fill my pillowcase with clothes!

I was sad to leave camp but wanted to see my family. I believe that if I hadn’t gone, I would have felt mad and silly. I would definitely want to go again and I think that it was an awesome place to take people. I have learnt that if you try new things you feel proud and can tell people what things you have done.

Jevon's Camp Reflection

I was really excited when we were going to camp because I have never been on a camp like this before. I could picture myself going down the water slide really fast.

I was really excited about going on the water-slide. I was thinking am I going to make a big splash. I had made big splashes on other water-slides I have been on, but not all of them.

When we got there, I decided to look at the water-slide. I worked out that it was very long and bumpy. It was so awesome. Also the flying fox was very long too.

I really liked the baking and I thought it was really nice. Then there was the diners which were also nice. After that we had to get ready for bed. We got 5 minutes to get ready for bed and brush our teeth, then it was lights out.

On the last day of camp we got to chose one activity. I chose to go on the flying fox. I was thinking hard because we weren’t allowed to change our minds once we had chosen what we were doing. I had a good time on camp and hope we can go back again.

Ruby's Camp Reflection

I was excited about going on camp, I could not wait. I thought we would have to do a whole load of activities. I was worried about the water slide because it was very long.

Before I went on the water slide I thought it was going to be fast. I felt nervous before I went on it because I have never been on one before. I did enjoy it because it was fast and because I loved the big splash at the end. I learnt that things that you think aren’t always true. I fell proud of my self that I went down.

I thought archery would be hard, but I was not nervous because I have done it before. I really enjoyed it because I hit the target a lot. I learnt how to do archery properly. Now I think it was great fun.

Before I went on the flying fox, I thought it was going to be slow. I had butterflies in my stomach because it was very high. I enjoyed it because it went fast. I learnt it was not that high. I felt it was nice fun.

I’m glad I went on camp because it was good fun.It was worth while because I enjoyed all the activities that we did. I would love to go again because it was the best camp ever. I would recommend it to other friends. I think school should go on camp because it a good way to learn new skills.
The End.

Lydia's Camp Reflection

Before I went on camp, I was worried about the activities we might have to do. Would they be difficult or easy? I was also scared of being away from home. I guess I was just scared of leaving home for 3 days because I have never gone on a camp before.

I was really scared when it came to doing the Burma Trail. One reason is because I hate the dark, and two, we weren’t allowed torches, and three, I HATE people scaring me. I felt nervous when my group came out. I realised it wasn’t that bad and I wanted to do it again. I worked out that we did it so that we could step out side our comfort zone and have fun, not just to scare the life out of us. I was taking a responsible risk.

I loved the flying fox. Before I did it, I felt a bit anxious to get it over with, but in the end I decided it wasn’t that bad, and I loved it because you just felt like you were flying and were free to do what you wanted.

I found archery fun. Before I did it, I didn’t feel worried at all because I have done archery before. I saw a rabbit and made up my mind that I wanted to shoot it, but I did not. I leant that to hit bullseye, you have to strive for accuracy.

Now that camp is over, I want to do it all again. Over all I LOVED it. I would recommended it to anyone at all, because all the activities were awesome. Schools should take children on camp because it allows them to step outside their comfort zones. I have learnt that camps let you use different habits of mind.

Eva's Camp Reflection

When I was in the car on the way to camp, I was really nervous because I hadn’t stayed away from home without my Mum and Dad for that long. But I still knew that I was going to have lots of fun because we always do on camp.

The first activity I went on was the water slide. I thought it was going to be freezing so I was nervous. But I realised afterwards I had gone down that it wasn’t that cold . When I got back up, I decided to go a couple more times. Then I felt quite cold so I got off. But I was thankful that I got on.

That night we went on the Burma Trail. I guessed it was going to be scary. But at the end I reckon it wasn’t the scariest thing I have ever been on. I suppose it was quite cool after all. I learnt that it is good to use teamwork on Burma Trail.

We also made Bivouacs. It was really fun. We made carpet out of toi toi which was really soft. After we had been collecting toi toi, I looked down and saw cuts on my legs. Then I remembered that Keeli was trying to help but by mistake she pushed me into the cutty grass and that's how I got the cuts on my legs.

I think that this year’s camp was the best camp I have been on so far. I would definitely go again. I think that others should go there as well. I think that camp is a great opportunity to make new friends.

Kahlee's Camp Reflection

At camp this year I was so worried about staying away from home for two nights. When we got there, I ran so fast to see where the water-slide and flying fox were.

That afternoon, we got to choose what cool activity we wanted to go on. I decided to go on the the long, slippery black slide. It was embarrassing because I was stopping every time at the end.

When I was on the water slide, it seemed like a long bumpy slippery slide, and I thought that I was going to hurt my back, but I didn’t.

The next day, we had rotations and it was very important to listen to where we were going first. When it was our turn to go on the flying fox, I was very worried about it, because at the end there’s a stopper like a slingshot, but not a flexible one. So when you hit it you didn’t go smashing into the tires too hard. When I went down I discovered that it wasn’t so bad at all - it was awesome and fun.

At the end of camp, I realised it was a great experience and I’m looking forward to the next camp I go on. I also felt very proud of myself for staying away from home.

Maggie's Camp Reflection

I felt amazingly excited and confident. We were going to Moirs Point Christian Camp. I realised that I wasn’t worried. I felt that way because I know that all of our camps are fun. I thought someone would hurt themselves. I suppose that was because someone usually does. I wasn’t really worried about anything. Well, except about forgetting something important.

One of the activities was archery. I guess I wondered what it would be like. If I remember rightly, I was a little bit worried. I don’t know why. When I reflect back on it, I guess in the end I enjoyed it very much. I suppose I liked it because it seemed to me to be quite unique and different. I learnt to take risks. I feel that if you try, you might surprise yourself.

The archery surprised me. I discovered that it was really cool once I made up my mind to do it. I decided that I wanted to do it again some time, and I will never ponder over whether to do it or not for the rest of my assumed (and hoped ) long life. I considered, and now confirm archery as a decidedly good way to spend my spare time.

The flying fox was another fun activity. I reckon it must be the longest one I have ever seen. The second time I went on it, I remember that I thought the line was too long and slow, so I went on the water slide. It was so cold that I decided to go back and wait in line after all.

Now that camp is over, I think it was a great experience, and I would certainly like to go again. Our camps are always worthwhile. I would really like to go again because I think there are some great things to learn there. I would recommend it to anyone, because Moirs Point Christian Camp has some great things to do.

Tony's Camp Reflection

When we went to Mangawhai, I was worried about if I had to go down the flying fox. I was worried that I would hurt some one with the flying fox.

I was really scared of going down if the harness wasn’t tight enough. I might fall out. But when I went down, it was really fun and I am happy that I did it. Now I feel good.

I was a little bit scared that I might hit some one during archery some one could get really hurt. But when I thought it was my sister, I got it and I was really happy.

On the confidence course I tried to do it. I felt bad for myself. I tried again and I still couldn’t do it. I didn’t have a good feeling, but I tried.

When we had to go, I said “oh man” because I was disappointed, but it was fun. I would go again and recommend camp to others so they have fun too. I would go again. I learnt that I should overcome my fears.

Chaice's Camp Reflection

I was so excited about camp and the activities that we would do. I was a bit worried about kayaking and the sand dunes at the beach because I would get exhausted if they were too big.

I was so excited about the activities on camp. And I was really looking forward to the sand duning at the beach. I was happy that my group was doing archery first.

On the to camp I was wondering how long the flying fox would be and if I would see any animals or bugs.

Once we were at camp I unloaded my stuff. When I finished that I went into the hall and played foosball. After dark a few people and I went on the Burma trail.

I would be so happy if I could be able to go again, because it was so much fun at camp. Camp was so awesome that I did not want to leave.

Lewis' Camp Reflection

We’re going on camp and I’m overwhelmed with excitement. We’re in my Dad’s car. I’m raring to go down the long water slide.I wonder what the wind’s going to feel like rushing through my hair on the flying fox.

The first activity was the lovely water slide which gives me a chill down my spine. I cant wait to zoom down there and pierce the water and make the water pour out of the slide. I realised the water slide was awesome and I would love to go down there again and I believe I can beat the fastest time with ease (yeah right).

Now I’m looking down the long flying fox. It gets me worried but what do you know. I’m already shooting down, it feels like it’s whacking my hair but it’s not. And do you know what I think? I think it’s like a cold shower on a sunny day.

We had kayaking last, but not least. My group discovered a big stingray. It was huge. Today I have learnt many things and I can’t wait to tell others about my awesome discoveries.

Well that was the best camp I’ve ever been on. I feel other people should go as well. I’ve learnt that I would love to go again, and I cant believe I was nervous before hand. I wonder now what other cool stuff life will bring.

Connor's Camp Reflection

I felt good because I like going on camp and trying new things. I was worried about the water slide because it looked really big.

It was the water slide that gave me a shock. Before I went on the water slide, I was a bit worried because it looked like I was going to fall off, but after it I really liked it because I like to get wet. I would really like to go again.

The flying fox looked fun when people were going on it. I thought I should go on but then I saw the line it was huge, so I stayed on the water slide but this time, I was not worried or nervous and I really really liked it and I wish I could go again.

Archery has been one thing that I’ve always wanted to do. It is harder than I thought.

I fell good about camp and it was worthwhile, I would love to go again.

Camp Letters 3

Dear Jason

Thank you very much for helping with our camp. I am so glad that we got to go on camp because most schools don’t go on camp because there’s not enough helpers. I know you might have had to take time of work, thats why I’m grateful. I’m happy that you volunteered. If you didn’t, camp would not have happened and that would really suck, so I’m lucky.

At camp, I can remember getting one of the five fastest times on the water slide. 1st Kyle Donovan, 2nd Mr Buckland, 3rd Damien Potter, 4th Hunter Cambell, 5th Julius Kuraia which is me with a time of 7.68 seconds. On the flying fox, I went upside down for a long period of time with no hands, I was really proud of that. My favourite activity was archery because I love bows and arrows and I’m really into Lord of the Rings.

I loved how you helped with archery. You were an awesome helper and you came in handy lots of times. I hope you can help next time because you were extraordinary. Thank you for helping with camp.

Yours sincerely,
Julius

Camp Letters 2

Dear Adele

Thank you for coming on our Mangawhai Camp. It made it really special having you come on our camp! You made our spectacular taste buds tingle with awe at your amazing cooking and taking us touring around the bay in kayaks.

I like the way you scared us to pieces on the burma trail. You made me jump out of my shoes!! Watch you step! Freaky !!! Also on the beach you were looking out for kids that were hurt or felt lonely.

Thank you again for your help to everyone on camp and if I was a year 6 again, I would be amazed if you came on camp again!!!!!

Yours sincerely,
Sarah

Camp Letters 1

Dear Ra,

I am writing to you to say thank you for coming to camp. We would have not been able to go on camp other wise, so thank you.

Thank you for being awesome on camp. On the Burma trail, you were so scary. I had never screamed so loud before and you also gave me the guts to go down the water slide when it was cold.

I hope you can come on another camp with us and scare us all again. So once again, thank you so much.

Yours sincerely
Kahlee Norton, Pod 11

Seasquirts

Seasquirts

Seasquirts are shaped like a flower and are all brilliant types of colours. They mostly eat plankton and their own brain! They don’t have any legs because they stay on the same spot. They are also known as Tunicates. Most Seasquirts are hermaphrodites!

They have two openings in their body cavaty: an in-current and an ex-current siphon.

Adults spend their lives attached to one spot on underwater structures like pilings on a wharf, sucking in water through one siphon, filtering small plants to eat, then squirts the water out through another siphon.

Seasquirts live in the subtidal zone and they normally clean other animals with their suckers.
