Ben T's Camp Reflection

Before I went to camp, I was feeling sick about it. But I told myself to conquer my fear and go. I was a bit scared to go on the flying fox, like the first time I went up the flying fox at Tangihua.

I was ready to go on the water slide. We had a choice between water slide or the flying fox. I pondered about it for a little while. I reckon the water slide was the best choice. I wasn’t nervous because I had been on one before at the pools. The water slide was cool. Even now, I think it was the best choice.

The next morning, I did the flying fox but I didn’t like it as much as the water slide. After that we walked over to archery. I thought that was pretty cool as well. I worked out that if there’s anything to do with mud or water, its the best choice.

On the last day of camp, we got to do something we would like to do again. I thought hard. It was important we chose what we wanted because we couldn’t change all the time. I chose the water slide. I'm glad it was the right decision to make because I enjoyed it so much.

I have learnt through experience that camp isn’t a test of being away from home. It’s about having fun and enjoying it. If you’re really nervous you don’t have to go. If your friends tell you you’re a chicken you don’t have to go. I would like to go back there for the water slide.
